A new gadget will turn family trips to the beach

TUI has introduced an innovative gadget called "Sand Shaker"which is set to change the way the British people think about beach vacations. The revolutionary tremor technology platforms are designed to tackle even the toughest sandy stowaways and are currently being tested on the beach by TUI. Users simply need to step on them and shake them off!

Gone are the days of struggling with stubborn grains of sand and finding sand in your suitcase after a few days. In just a few seconds, the sand will be shaken out of every crevice, and you can go home without taking half the beach with you.

This groundbreaking innovation comes after new TUI research revealed that we are a nation of beach lovers, with the beach topping our list of favorite activities. However, despite our love of days by the sea, more than half (54%) of us dread cleaning up sand, and more than a third (35%) say sand is more trouble than it's worth.

Not surprisingly, sand has been identified as one of the main annoyances of beach vacations. More than half (56%) of Brits admitted they would go to the beach more often if they could avoid bringing sand home, and almost one in three (29%) say that getting sand in their food was the worst part of their vacation. And after trips to the beach, families spend nearly 15 minutes cleaning up the sand, with more than one in ten (13%) spending more than half an hour.

This innovative prototype will come as a huge relief to the millions of families who suffer from post-beach vacation messes. TUI's research found that nearly three quarters (74%) of those surveyed longed for a more convenient way to get rid of sand, and despite their efforts, almost half (49%) admitted that no matter what they did, they never managed to get rid of it completely. In fact, a staggering 40% of families even admitted to giving up on things and throwing them away after a trip to the beach because they were too sandy to clean.

This summer, British families are being put to the test of the sand hammer to return from beach trips with only pleasant memories. Almost half (44%) admitted to still finding sand three days after their visit in unpleasant places, including in their swimming pockets (26%), children's ears (14%) and even diapers (8%).

Neil Swanson, Managing Director of TUI UK and Ireland, said: "When we discovered that the most wonderful family day often ends with the most frustrating family cleanup, we knew we had to change something - literally. Sand should only be found on the beach, not in clothes, suitcases or beds, days and sometimes weeks after a vacation. The sand shaker will allow our customers to spend a day at the beach and come home without sand. It's one small step for TUI and a giant leap for parents."
