    The Turkish Formula 1 Grand Prix was held in Istanbul.

    One of the most significant events in the world of motorsports, the Istanbul round of the Formula 1 motor racing, has come to an end. The Grand Prix was won by British Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. With this victory, Hamilton wins the world title for the fourth time in a row and the seventh time overall, and repeats the achievement of Michael Schumacher, who is also a seven-time world champion. The prizes were presented to the winners by the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament, Professor Mustafa Shentop.

    Last year, more than 15 million tourists visited Istanbul, making it the 8th most visited city in the world. More than 2 billion viewers from 200 countries watched the broadcasts of the Formula 1 competitions held in Istanbul after a 9-year break. The competition was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey and the Turkish Tourism Development and Promotion Agency.

    The winner of the race, Lewis Hamilton, said in his speech that he often visits the southern and Aegean coasts of Turkey, that he is impressed by Turkish history and the fact that each city here has its own special flavor, and that there is no better place to win a championship than Turkey.

    In addition to Formula 1 events, Turkey has hosted global sporting events such as the Champions League Final in 2005, the UEFA Cup Final in 2009, the World Basketball Championship in 2010, the Euroleague Final Four in 2017, the UEFA Super Cup in 2019, and the World Rally Championship in September 2020.

    In 2019, more than 50 million tourists visited Turkey.
