Meliá Hotels International, Spain's leading hotel company with 70 years of experience in the leisure segment, is strengthening its position in the Mediterranean with the announcement of its official entry into the Tunisian market. Through a strategic alliance with Management Hospitality Group (MHG), the company will manage five new properties that will gradually add to its portfolio, with an ambitious goal of reaching 3,000 rooms in the region by 2030. This expansion will begin this year with the opening of a resort under the Meliá Hotels & Resorts brand in Mahdia. The hotel will offer 307 rooms and is located in one of the most exclusive coastal areas of the country.
Following the opening of the first hotel, the growth plan includes the addition of four more hotels between 2027 and 2029 in the key destinations of Tabarka, Monastir, Djerba and Tunis. Designed primarily as resorts and tailored to different traveler profiles, these projects will help raise the country's hospitality standards and enhance the vacation experience through the Sol, Meliá Hotels & Resorts and Gran Meliá brands. A strategic partner with local DNA. To enter this market, Meliá is relying on the strengths of Management Hospitality Group (MHG), a platform specialized in the development, management and operation of hotel assets in Mediterranean tourist destinations, particularly in North Africa, which is part of a joint venture between AllianceOne Group and Voyages 2000.
This strategic alliance combines the company's global expertise with MHG's deep knowledge of the Tunisian market and its well-established operational network in distribution and travel operations, creating a strong synergy that expands commercial opportunities, opens up new possibilities and contributes to the sustainable development and positioning of the destination.
