Lisbon has been named the best MICE destination in Europe in 2025 at the 6th World MICE Awards ceremony, which was announced in Sakhir, Bahrain. The city once again stands out among the leading international destinations for congresses, meetings and corporate events.
This award, which is the third time the city has been recognized, highlights Lisbon's success in the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) segment, which is gaining in economic importance and international prominence. The combination of efficient accessibility, hotel capacity, modern amenities and a diverse cultural offer has contributed to the city's attractiveness.
For Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon, «this award demonstrates Lisbon's ability to attract events that generate investment and jobs. Business tourism is now a central element of the city's development strategy, and this recognition shows that we are strengthening our leadership position in Europe.».
Paula Oliveira, Executive Director of the Lisbon Tourism Association (ATL), adds: «This recognition reflects a strategy that has been able to evolve with the market. Today, Lisbon offers competitive opportunities for events of all sizes, benefiting from the quality of its infrastructure, the professionalization of the sector and an ecosystem that is responsive to the needs of international organizers.».
The most recent data from the ICCA, the International Congress and Convention Association, confirms this dynamic, with Lisbon ranking second among European cities for the largest number of association events (153 in 2024).
